BIANCA VAN RANGELROOY
Opening: Wednesday June 2, 6–8 pm
Exhibition: June 2–15
Gallery@28 proudly presents Mutable Landscapes paintings by Bianca van Rangelrooy.
Bianca van Rangelrooy has created a unique series of paintings that are a visual exploration of particular aspects of human engagement with the landscape.

“What really struck me with Bianca’s work, was her traditional approach to landscape, the painterly surface rendering, the muted tunes and contrasting palette all of which is fused with something new and other-worldly.” Explains Kate Hopkinson-Pointer director of Gallery@ 28.
“There is so much dialogue and philosophy behind them and yet the works themselves seem to silently and calmly convey the essence, atmosphere and memories that connect us to our environment…they are beautifully haunting works.” continues Kate.
Bianca sources inspiration from landscape perception and ways of seeing.
“Much of the context for Mutable Landscapes was found in the Homebush brick pit and an extensive construction sight near the Anzac Bridge” explains Bianca.

Bianca uses photography, digital software and paint as mediums to record her physical and conceptual experience of real and virtual space.
“They are records of human intervention within natural systems rather than a depiction of landscape as scenery."

They explore ideas pertaining to phenomenology; the sensorial engagement with the world and Descartes Cartesian dualism.
“Bianca’s paintings give the viewer a sense of there being so much more written into the fabric of the landscape.” continues Kate Hopkinson-Pointer director of Gallery@ 28.
